Captured in South Africa’s Kruger National Park, this photograph shows an old lioness almost disappearing into the tall grass. I watched her for a long time, waiting for even the slightest movement, until she finally lifted her head and yawned.

What makes this image especially meaningful to me are her broken canine teeth. They reveal her age, experience and the harsh reality of life in the African bush. Photographed through layers of grass and vegetation, the image feels almost hidden, as if the viewer is discovering her rather than simply looking at her.

 

 

Print Details

Each photograph is produced as a premium Alu Dibond print on a 3 mm matte aluminium composite panel. The high resolution seven colour UV printing process delivers exceptional sharpness, fine detail and rich tonal depth, while the matte surface reduces distracting reflections.
